On earth, this setup was established primarily to effectively direct and govern the diverse many, to protect them from evil and harm and also to encourage harmony and peaceful living among them. Human beings have an enemy in the person of ha-satán with his cohorts of wicked spirits. The enemy's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy humanity. The only best defense that anyone could have against all the onslaughts of the enemy is the protection provided for by YÁOHU UL Himself for everyone and this He ensures through the authority-subordinate setup. Authorities can best be comprehended as umbrellas of protection which YÁOHU UL provides for the safety and well-being of everyone. They are also YÁOHU UL's tools in molding desirable virtues and character traits among the subordinates. Authorities were given power and authority to reward and prosper the upright, and to punish and penalize the stubborn or wicked among the subordinates. Again, they being YÁOHU UL's agents in governing human affairs on earth. Citizens of one country are protected from foreign conquests and from occupation by ruthless barbarians by means of the country's armed forces that serve as their defense to ensure that they remain safe and unconquered by foreign invasions. Children are protected by parents from criminal elements in society, from harm, poverty, violence, drugs and other wicked influences. The congregation of believers is protected by their spiritual leaders from false teachings, from all satanic activities and from deceptions and occult activities of darkness. Employees are protected from hunger and want and also from all kinds of wickedness and slothfulness in the workplace. The general public is protected from criminal elements by policemen, marshals or constabulary officials, under the direction of the mayor and the councilmen. YÁOHU UL designates policemen and other government employees as His servants (ministers) so they must be respected, obeyed and honored not only for His sake but for the benefit of the people too. The people are protected by the judiciary from abuses and violations of their rights and so on and so forth. Without governments, armed forces, religious organizations, parental authorities, educational and corporate or company authorities, chaos and confusion, immoralities and wickedness will be rampant in society because each would be doing what he thinks is right in his own opinion and no one will defend or protect the innocent from the onslaughts of the enemy, ha-satán. Humanity will terribly suffer, deteriorate and will eventually become extinct from this planet, if left to themselves. This is the reason why YÁOHU UL always works for edifying those who are in authority while the enemy is always working for their weakening.
PROPER BEHAVIOR YÁOHU UL is much pleased when a subordinate behaves well in serving his/her authorities, like unto hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA Himself. 'You wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, for that is what Molkhiúl YAOHÚSHUA has planned for you. And you husbands must be loving and kind to your wives and not bitter against them, nor harsh.' 'You children must always obey your parents, for that pleases Molkhiúl YAOHÚSHUA. Fathers, avoid scolding your children so much that they become exasperated and quit trying.' 'You workers must always obey your earthly employers, not only trying to please them when they are watching you but all the time; obey them willingly because of your love for YAOHÚSHUA Molkhiúl, and because you want to please Him.' 'Work hard and gladly at all you do, just as though you were working for Molkhiúl YAOHÚSHUA Himself and not merely for your employers, remembering that it is YAOHÚSHUA hol-MEHUSHKHÁY, Who is going to pay you, giving you your full portion of all He owns. He is the One you are really working for.' 'And if you don't do your best for Him, He will pay you in a way that you won't like - for He has no special favorites who can get away with shirking.' 'You employers must be just, fair and kind to all your subordinates. Always remember that you, too, have a Ruler in heaven Who is also closely watching you.' - Colossians 3:18-4:1, Holy Scriptures The subordinate must be obedient. The word 'obedience' implies, in YÁOHU UL's reckoning, obeying, submitting to and following the orders of your authorities. Not in a mediocre manner but with -
Delayed obedience is disobedience. Incomplete obedience is also disobedience. Mediocre performance is the same as if it has not been done at all. Obedience with remorse or bitterness in the subordinate's heart is so unpleasant in YÁOHU UL's sight. All ill-will and slothful performances by a subordinate towards his lawful authorities will justly be penalized (demotion or expulsion!) by YÁOHU UL Who watches everyone's behavior all the time. YÁOHU UL never slumbers nor sleeps; His eyes are going to and fro throughout all the earth to show Himself powerful in behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward Him. A subordinate who obeys promptly, completely, with excellence and gladness of heart will surely receive rich and bountiful rewards (and yes, promotion!) from YÁOHU UL. 'Promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from YÁOHU UL Himself. He promotes one and deposes another.' - Tehillím (Psalms) 75:6-7 A subordinate who obeys with tardiness, procrastination, delay, incompleteness, laziness, sloppiness and remorse or murmuring, will surely be punished by YÁOHU UL for his/her bad attitudes and improper behavior towards his/her authorities. Whatever you do unto your authorities, remember, YÁOHU UL will measure out to everyone what his deeds deserve. And YÁOHU UL views and reckons your services to your authorities as your indirect services to hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA Himself. 'An authority's rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 19:12 'He who robs his father and drives out his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 19:26 'Penalties are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 19:29 'An authority's wrath is like the roar of a lion; he who angers him forfeits his life.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 20:2 'Who can say, 'I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin.'' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 20:9 'If a man curses his father or mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 20:20 Whatever kind of services you render to your authorities, the same corresponding rewards or penalties will you receive from YÁOHU UL, through your authorities also. Remember, YÁOHU UL is the invisible All-Powerful One Who is in direct or permissive control of every occurrence here on this planet! And that is the truth that will set you free from all lies and deceptions of the wicked one. 'Highly-favored be the Name of YÁOHU UL forever and ever, for He alone has all wisdom and all power. World events are under His control. He removes leaders and sets others upon their offices. He gives wise men their wisdom, and scholars their intelligence.' - Dayan-Ul (Daniel) 2:20-22, Holy Scriptures 'As they were walking along, someone said to hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA: 'I will always follow you no matter where you go.' But YAOHÚSHUA replied, 'Remember, I don't even own a place to lay My head. Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but I, hol-MEHUSHKHÁY, have no earthly home at all.' Another time, when he invited a man to follow Him and to be His disciple, the man agreed - but wanted to wait until his father's death.' YAOHÚSHUA replied, 'Let those without eternal life concern themselves with affairs like that. Your duty is to come and proclaim the coming of the Kingdom of YÁOHU UL to all the world.'' Another said, 'Yes, Ruler, I will come, but first let me ask permission of those at home.'' But YAOHÚSHUA told him, 'Anyone who lets himself be bothered from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of YÁOHU UL.'' - Luke 9:57-62, Holy Scriptures. Herein are some clues which reveal hardheadedness in the heart of a subordinate. A subordinate who is hardheaded will give the following possible replies when ordered to do a specific task:
You surely know what kind of treatment this subordinate will receive from YÁOHU UL. When, for example, he prays for something from YÁOHU UL, or makes a request from his/her authorities, the reply he gave will he also receive. If he requests for a housing loan, or medical attention or social services, company raise or bonus, or whatever, the replies he gave are the same exact replies he will receive. What he planted he surely will reap, in all areas in his daily life. Then usually, when he experiences the bitter harvests of his wickedness, he will complain, file a suit, become bitter or threaten revenge against those who refused or denied him the privileges he was demanding for. In other words, he was trying to separate the fruit from the seed which he himself had sown in the past. No one can separate the fruit from the seed. Conflicts in this world often arise from the ignorant who try desperately to separate the fruit from the seed. Repeat: what you sow, you will surely reap. 'As long as there is winter and summer, seed, time and harvest shall never cease on earth.' - Genesis 8:22 'When you are persecuted in one city, flee to the next! I will return before you have reached them all! A pupil is not greater than his teacher. A servant is not above his ruler. The disciple shares his teacher's fate. The servant shares his ruler's! And since I, Molkhiúl of the household, have been called 'ha-satán,' how much more will you!' - Man-YÁOHU 10:23-25 'Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it. Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can identify them by the way they behave, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never confuse grapevines with thorn bushes or figs with thistles. Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified by examining their fruit. A variety that yields delectable fruit never yields an inedible kind. And a tree yielding an inedible kind can't yield what is delectable. So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down and thrown on the fire.' Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit shown forth.' - Matthew 7:13-20, Holy Scriptures. 'Don't be misled, remember that you cannot ignore YÁOHU UL and get away with it; a person will always reap just the kind of crop he sows! If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the noble things of the 'RÚKHA' (Spirit), he will reap the eternal life which the 'RÚKHA hol-HODSHÚA' (Sanctified Spirit of YÁOHU Ulhím) gives him. And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while, we will reap a harvest of favors if we don't get discouraged and give up.' - Galatians 6:7-9 'Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words will remain forever true.' - Luke 21:33 'Whatever measure you use to others will be measured back to you.' - Luke 6:38 YÁOHU UL surely bountifully rewards those who serve their authorities promptly, completely, excellently (as best as their abilities can achieve) and with gladness of heart! Whoever continually serves his authorities with all these qualities will also harvest success, prosperity, promotions, advancements, honor and riches in this life! Don't try it, do it. Subordinates who serve their authorities well are the ones who succeed in life, they prosper and YÁOHU UL gives them the desires of their hearts, to the chagrin and envy of the sluggard and the mediocre, but to no avail. Again, one cannot separate the fruit from the seed. No one can stop the diligent from reaping the delectable fruit of his bountiful harvests! Why? Because YÁOHU UL has decreed it: whatever a person sows, the same shall he reap! 'Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall never pass away.' - Luke 21:33 So better believe YÁOHU UL's words and apply them in your life to your advantage. While to those who ignore or disbelieve His words, still and all, His words will take effect in everyone's life. Whether one believes or not that the sun will rise tomorrow, it will, because YÁOHU UL has decreed it so. You may apply YÁOHU UL's inscribed Word to your advantage and benefit or, conversely, you may go against His Word and you will unnecessarily cause injury, penury, torment, loss and suffering to yourself. What you sow, surely you will reap! So begin serving your authorities now promptly, completely, excellently (so far as is within your abilities) and with gladness! And see the amazing ways in which YÁOHU UL will begin benefiting and prospering your life and your family's. You will begin reaping the sweet fruits of your honest labor and loving service to hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA - the soon-coming King of all kings. CORRECT ATTITUDES The admirable and praiseworthy attitudes which YÁOHU UL expects and is always pleased to receive from any subordinate are:
'The wicked accuse, the upright defend.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 12:6 And ha-satán is the accuser of the brethren, Revelation 12:10. 'Never falsely accuse someone to his employer or authority, lest the authority curse you for your sin.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 30:10 So one must always protect his authorities from all kinds of backbiting, slanders, rumors, defamations and libels. The wise will always protect his authority because he knows that he is YÁOHU UL's agent or representative in taking care of his needs. Protect your shield of defense from all the works of darkness! A special word from YÁOHU UL to wives as regards their showing genuine love and loyalty to their respective husbands at this point is highly appropriate.... 'If I had the gift of being able to speak in other languages without learning them, and could speak in every language there is in all of heaven and earth, but didn't love others, I would only be making noise. If I had the gift of prophecy and knew all about what is going to happen in the future, knew everything about everything, but didn't love others, what benefit would it give? Even if I had the gift of faith in order that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, I would still be worth nothing at all without love. If I gave everything I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for proclaiming the Glorious Message but didn't love others, it would be of no value whatever. Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but exults whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always remain firm in defending him. There are three things that remain - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love.' - 1 Corinthians 13:1-7;13
If anyone really wants to receive what he rightfully deserves, he should be thrown immediately to sheól (hell), with all his sin, wickedness, greed and lusts. The subordinate must always be grateful because YÁOHU UL is using his human authorities to protect him from hunger, poverty, unemployment, harm and so on. And your human authorities are YÁOHU UL's agents in benefiting and protecting you and your family. That's why a subordinate must always be grateful and thankful to YÁOHU UL, and also to his human authorities, like unto hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA Himself. Now take particular notice of what YÁOHU UL does to those with ungrateful hearts and attitudes: 'But YÁOHU UL shows His anger from heaven against all sinful, evil people who push away the truth from them. For the truth about YÁOHU UL is inbornly known to them; YÁOHU UL has put this knowledge in their hearts. Since earliest times, people have seen the earth and sky and all YÁOHU UL made, and have known of His being alive and great eternal power. So they will have no excuse when they face YÁOHU UL at Judgment Day. Yes, they knew about Him all right, but they wouldn't admit it or worship Him or even thank Him for all His daily care. And after awhile they began to think up silly ideas of what YÁOHU UL was like and what He wanted them to do. The result was that their stupid minds became dark and confused. Claiming themselves to be wise without YÁOHU UL, they became utter fools to the contrary. And then, in place of worshiping the glorious, ever-living YÁOHU UL, they took wood and 'ebán' (s-one) and made idols for themselves, carving them to look like mere birds and animals and snakes and puny men. So YÁOHU UL let them go ahead into every sort of sexual sin, and do whatever they wanted to - yes, vile and sinful things with each other's bodies. In place of believing what they knew was the truth about YÁOHU UL, they deliberately preferred to believe lies. So they prayed to the objects YÁOHU UL made, but wouldn't obey the magnificent YÁOHU UL Who created those objects. That is why YÁOHU UL let go of them and let them do all these evil things, that even their women turned against YÁOHU UL's natural plan for them and indulged in sex sin with each other. And the men, in place of having a normal sexual relationship with women, burned with lust for each other, men doing abominable activities with other men and, as a result, getting paid within their own souls with the penalty they so richly deserved. So it was that when they gave YÁOHU UL up and would not even acknowledge Him, YÁOHU UL gave them up to doing everything their evil minds could think of. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness and sin, of greed and hate, envy, murder, fighting, lying, bitterness and gossip. They were backbiters, haters of YÁOHU UL, insolent, proud braggarts, always inventing new ways of sinning and continually being disobedient to their parents. They tried hard not to comprehend, broke their promises, and were heartless - without natural affections, pitiless. They were fully aware of YÁOHU UL's death penalty for these crimes, yet they went right ahead and did them anyway, and encouraged others to do them, too.' - Romans 1:18-32, Holy Scriptures. So to be always grateful, thankful and appreciative of YÁOHU UL's lovingkindness and benefits is one trait which YÁOHU UL rewards bountifully and richly. LOYALTY - faithfulness, fidelity, devotion and truthfulness in serving your human authorities, like unto hol-MEHUSHKHÁY YAOHÚSHUA Himself. Those subordinates who serve their authorities with utmost loyalty and truthfulness are always benefited, no matter what happens. Those who are disloyal and are traitors to their authorities are always cursed, whichever way events turn. In prosperity and victory, the authority will always give the best as well as the most to those who are loyal among his subordinates. In defeat and loss, the authority will do whatever best he can to still help and protect the loyal subordinates, and when times of recovery come, all the more, the loyal subordinates will be highly rewarded because they proved their loyalty all along. Loyalty means remaining on the side of one's authorities in cases of conflicts. It also means being a dependable orderly to those whom one is serving. On the other hand, disloyalty means the exact opposite of being faithful to those YÁOHU UL has put in seats of governance as His agents in protecting subordinates. Disloyal subordinates commit treachery, treason, betrayal and rebellion against those whom they are supposed to respect and obey. No sensible person in authority will receive a known disloyal person into his confidence. And if ever, only to use him against his competitors or enemies, and then dump him. What person in authority, in his sound mind, would hire or take into his confidence someone who has been proven to be capable of betraying his employer or authority after having been receiving all the salaries and benefits from him to feed his family through the years? Cursed is the future of the disloyal subordinate, child, employee or worker. While the loyal and truthful, faithful worker succeeds! Remember Judas Ish-Kerioth and his tragic end; you must avoid imitating him. But YÁOHU-khánam (John) the Beloved, was loved because of his proven fidelity, faithfulness and loyalty to the King of kings - YAOHÚSHUA, till the end. Remember, almost all of the big employers in this world are in dire need of people, not only of proven abilities, but of proven character, virtue, loyalty, faithfulness and honesty. Loyal subordinates are valuable employees who are indeed rare to find these days. And they receive the best from their employers. Now you know the real reason why.... YÁOHU UL's words always are effectual, wherever and whenever applied correctly. 'The integrity of the upright guides them, but the disloyal are ruined by their duplicity.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 11:3 'From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with delectable things, but the unfaithful (disloyal) have a craving for violence.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 13:2 'Sound comprehension wins favor, but the way of the disloyal (traitor) is difficult.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 13:15 'There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 14:12 'A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son, and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 17:2 'Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a real faithful (loyal) person who can find?' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 20:6 'The wicked become a ransom for the upright, and the disloyal (unfaithful) for the upright.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 21:18 'The eyes of YÁOHU UL keep watch over knowledge, but He frustrates the words of the unfaithful.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 22:12 'A faithful (loyal) person will be richly rewarded, but one eager to get rich (through disloyalty) will not go unpunished.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 28:20 'The accomplice of the thief is his own enemy; he is put under oath and dare not testify.' - Maush'léi (Proverbs) 29:24
Of course there is a difference between the respect, reverence, honor and deference that is only due YÁOHU UL being the Most High and to that to be given to your human authorities, realizing that they are YÁOHU UL's agents to protect and prosper you. Give unto your human authorities what is due them but reserve the best and the most for YÁOHU UL. Remember, you are to show all these noble virtues like unto the Messiah YAOHÚSHUA Himself, and you are not to do these like unto mere human beings, if you want full rewards. The 'RÚKHA hol-HODSHÚA' will lead you into all truth in regard to the fine line between respect for human authorities and worship of mere humans. Please read on for more detailed explanations regarding this. Narrow is the way which leads to life and only a few find it.
There is no weather, time nor place that will stop you from serving the needs of your human authorities, once given the order. You are reliable, dependable, punctual and always available whenever your services are needed. YÁOHU UL is not looking for people with abilities but those who are available to serve Him. This likewise applies to your human authorities. Abilities and talents can be taught and given, while the more important qualities of a person's moral fiber and character are much more valuable than worldly riches. 'Don't be selfish; don't live to make a fine impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don't merely think of your own affairs, but think of others, too, and in what they are doing. Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by YAOHÚSHUA hol-MEHUSHKHÁY, Who, though He was the Eternal Himself, did not demand and cling to His rights as Omnipotent, but laid aside His mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a servant and becoming like men. And He humbled Himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal's death on the stake. Yet it was because of this that YÁOHU UL raised Him up to the heights of heaven and gave Him a Name which is above every other name, that at the Name of YAOHÚSHUA every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue shall confess that YAOHÚSHUA hol-MEHUSHKHÁY is King, to the glory of YÁOHU ABí, the Father.' - Philippians 2:3-11, Holy Scriptures. Subordinates will always get the kind of authorities they deserve. If the citizens of any country are dishonest, lazy, idolatrous, adulterous and drunkards, then surely they will elect and vote for the kind of leadership that reflects their character and wants. Or they will select (voluntarily or not) to be subjected to rigid and authoritarian regimes which will be most needed to combat the excesses and laziness of the people. YÁOHU UL's verdict regarding these are what actually transpire in the overall chronology in every nation - with the end in view of promoting noble virtues among the citizenry and combating evil, especially among the youth and the rebellious. 'With the measure that you use, it will be measured back to you' - said Molkhiúl YAOHÚSHUA. It is also noteworthy to mention at this point that a subordinate must know the unspoken wishes of his authority. One's own authority might say one thing to test the subordinate's real intentions and character, but actually desire another thing in his heart and mind. A clear scriptural example is what transpired between Uli-YÁOHU and Ulishua (Elijah and Elisha, in modern adulterated translations): 'Now the time came for YÁOHU UL to take Uli-YÁOHU to heaven - by means of a whirlwind! Uli-YÁOHU said to Ulishua as they left Gilgal, 'Remain here, for YÁOHU UL has commanded me to go to Bayit-Ul.' But Ulishua replied, 'I swear to YÁOHU UL that I won't leave you!' So they went on together to Bayit-Ul. There the young prophets of Bayit-Ul Seminary came out to meet them and asked Ulishua, 'Did you know that YÁOHU UL is going to take Uli-YÁOHU away from you today?' 'Quiet!' Ulishua snapped. 'Of course I know it.' 'Then Uli-YÁOHU said to Ulishua, 'Please remain here in Bayit-Ul, for YÁOHU UL has sent me to Yericho.' But Ulishua replied again, 'I swear to YÁOHU UL I won't leave you.' So they went on together to Yericho. Then the students at Yericho Seminary came to Ulishua and asked him, 'Do you know that YÁOHU UL is going to take away your authority today?' 'Will you please be quiet?' he commanded. 'Of course I know it!' Then Uli-YÁOHU said to Ulishua, 'Please remain here, for YÁOHU UL has sent me to the Yardayán River.' But Ulishua replied as before, 'I swear to YÁOHU UL that I won't leave you.' So they continued on together and arose by the side of the Yardayán River as fifty of the young prophets watched from afar. Then Uli-YÁOHU folded his cloak together and hit the water with it; and the river divided and they went through on dry ground! When they arrived on the other side Uli-YÁOHU said to Ulishua, 'What wish shall I grant you before I am taken away?' And Ulishua replied, 'Please grant me twice as much prophetic power as you have had.' 'You have asked a hard thing,' Uli-YÁOHU replied. 'If you see me when I am taken from you, then you will get your request. But if not, then you won't.' As they were walking along, talking, quickly a chariot of fire, drawn by horses of fire, appeared and drove between them, separating them, and Uli-YÁOHU was carried by a whirlwind up into heaven. Ulishua saw everything then cried out, 'My father! My father! The Chariot of Yaoshorúl (Israel) and the charioteers!' As they disappeared from sight he tore his robe. Then he picked up Uli-YÁOHU's cloak and returned to the bank of the Yardayán River, and hit the water with it. 'Where is YÁOHU UL of Uli-YÁOHU?' he cried out. And the water parted and Ulishua went through! When the young prophets of Yericho saw what had happened, they exclaimed, 'The spirit of Uli-YÁOHU rests upon Ulishua!' And they went to meet him and greeted him respectfully.' - 2 Kings 2:1-15 Holy Scriptures On the other hand, here's a fine scriptural example of how YÁOHU UL deals with the disobedient. 'One day Shamu-Ul said to Shaúl, 'I crowned you King of Yaoshorúl because YÁOHU UL told me to. Now be sure that you obey Him. Here is His command to you: 'I have determined to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for refusing to allow My people to go through their territory when Yaoshorúl came from Egypt. Now go and completely annihilate the entire Amalek nation - men, women, babies, little children, oxen, sheep, camels and donkeys.' Therefore Shaúl mobilized his army at Telaim. There were two hundred thousand troops in addition to ten thousand men from YAOHÚ-dah. The Amalekites were camped in the valley below them. Shaúl sent a message to the Kenites, telling them to get out from among the Amalekites of else die with them. 'For you were kind to the people of Yaoshorúl when they came out of the land of Egypt,' he explained. So the Kenites packed up and left. Then Shaúl butchered the Amalekites from Havilah all the way to Shur, east of Egypt. He captured Agag, the king of the Amalekites, but killed everyone else. However, Shaúl and his men kept the best of the sheep and oxen and the fattest of the lambs - everything, in fact, that appealed to them. They ruined only what was worthless or of poor quality. Then YÁOHU UL said to Shamu-Ul, 'I am sorry that I ever made Shaúl king, for he has again refused to obey Me.' Shamu-Ul was so deeply moved when he heard what YÁOHU UL was saying, that he cried to YÁOHU UL all night. Early the next morning he went out to find Shaúl. Someone said that he had gone to Mount Carmel to erect a monument to himself, and had then gone on to Gilgal. When Shamu-Ul finally found him, Shaúl greeted him cheerfully. 'Hello there,' he said. 'Well, I have carried out YÁOHU UL's command!' 'Then what was all the bleating of sheep and lowing of oxen I heard?' Shamu-Ul demanded. 'It's really true that the army spared the best of the sheep and oxen,' Shaúl admitted,' but they are going to sacrifice them to YÁOHU your UL; and we have ruined everything else.' Then Shamu-Ul said to Shaúl, 'Stop! Hearken to what YÁOHU UL told me last night!' 'What was it?' Shaúl asked. And Shamu-Ul told him, 'When you didn't think much of yourself, YÁOHU UL made you the king of Yaoshorúl. And He sent you on an errand and told you, 'Go and completely slay the sinners, the Amalekites, until they are all dead.'' Then why didn't you obey YÁOHU UL? Why did you rush for the loot and do exactly what YÁOHU UL said not to?' 'But I have obeyed YÁOHU UL,' Shaúl adamantly exclaimed. 'I did what He told me to; and I brought king Agag but killed everyone else. And it was only when my troops demanded it that I let them keep the best of the sheep and oxen and loot to sacrifice to YÁOHU UL.' Shamu-Ul replied, 'Has YÁOHU UL as much pleasure in your burnt offerings and sacrifices as in your obedience? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. He is much more eager in your hearkening to Him than in you offering the fat of ram to Him. For rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols. And now because you have rejected the word of YÁOHU UL, He has rejected you from being king.' 'I have sinned,' Shaúl finally admitted. 'Yes, I have disobeyed your directives and the command of YÁOHU UL, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. Oh, please pardon my sin now and go with me to worship YÁOHU UL.' But Shamu-Ul replied, 'It's no use! Since you have rejected the command of YÁOHU UL, He has rejected you from being the king of Yaoshorúl.' As Shamu-Ul turned to go, Shaúl grabbed at him to try to hold him back, and tore his robe. And Shamu-Ul said to him, 'See? YÁOHU UL has similarly torn the kingdom of Yaoshorúl from you today and has given it to a countryman of yours who is better than you are. And He Who is the Glory of Yaoshorúl is not lying, nor will He change His mind, for He is not an ordinary man!'
